An AFI film recalling the story behind Jacques-Louis David's 1793 painting, 'The Death of Marat'. The film centers around Charlotte Corday, Girondin and political enemy of Jean-Paul Marat, and the moments leading up to his assassination.

Costume features a shift, two petticoats, pockets, bottom skirt, top skirt, and bodice (with built in stays).  More photos of undergarments below.

Dress pattern based on LACMA's sewing pattern of a 1790 Woman's Dress (Redingote)

Bodice is fully lined and features a wide lapel, matching fabric button closures, and a hidden front-laced partially boned stays.

Top skirt consists of 216 half inch cartridge pleats, gathering six yards of heavyweight blue linen.

First petticoat is gathered, and is made of a lightweight cotton voile with a back tie closure.

Second petticoat made of a medium weight cotton, with tied side closures, and 1in. pleats along the base.
